How to Get Approved for the Amazon Influencer Program (and Actually Get Paid)
There are two doors here, not one. Getting "approved" is door number one. Getting paid the real money is door number two. Most people stop at door one and wonder why nothing is happening. I am going to walk you through both.
Door 1: Get approved for the program
Amazon vets you with an automated system plus a human review. Here is how to clear it.
1. Apply with your single strongest platform.
Pick one public account from: TikTok, YouTube, Instagram (Business or Creator profile), or Facebook (a Business Page, not a personal profile). Do not spread yourself thin. If you have 10,000 sleepy followers on Instagram but 2,000 fans who actually watch and comment on TikTok, apply with TikTok. Amazon cares about engagement, not vanity numbers.
2. Send the right signals before you apply.
Amazon does not publish a hard follower minimum, but accounts under about 1,000 followers get auto-declined almost every time. Three signals matter more than raw count:
- Engagement. Likes, saves, shares, comments. Aim for a 1 to 3 percent engagement rate.
- Cadence. Post original content at least 3 times a week for a few weeks before you apply. A dead account does not get approved.
- Niche. Point some of your recent content at products: "my favorite tech," an unboxing, a get-ready-with-me. Amazon wants to see that people look to you for what to buy.
3. The two things that basically guarantee approval
Do one or both, especially if your following is small:
- Account age. The longer your account has existed, even if it sat dormant, the better. An old Facebook Page you made years ago and barely touched carries real weight. Amazon leans heavily on account history when it decides. If you have an aged account anywhere, use it.
- Get your numbers up fast. Boost one or more of your existing posts using the platform's own promote feature to lift your engagement and reach ahead of applying. You can also use a promotion service like TWICSY that grows your real follower count for pennies on the dollar, which is the fastest way to clear the threshold if your following is small.
No social account at all? Make one, ideally TikTok or Instagram, apply the step above to get to a few thousand engaged followers, then apply.
4. Submit.
Go to the Amazon Influencer registration portal, log into your normal Amazon shopping account, and link your chosen platform. Pass the automated check and you get your own Amazon Storefront at amazon.com/shop/yourhandle.
Door 2: Unlock on-site commissions (this is the real money)
A storefront alone only earns you commissions on traffic YOU send from your social links (off-site). The engine is on-site commissions, where Amazon places your review videos directly on the product pages millions of shoppers already browse. Here is how you turn that on.
Pass the 3-video review. Upload three high-quality review videos to your creator hub for a manual Amazon review. It is strict, so follow these rules exactly:
- No barcodes or tracking info. Cover or crop out any shipping labels, barcodes, or tracking numbers.
- No pricing or promo talk. Never say "this is only $20" or "get it on sale." Prices change and it dates the video.
- No external calls to action. Never say "link in my bio" or "check out my storefront." Amazon rejects any attempt to divert traffic.
- High production quality. Clear, well-lit video, horizontal (16:9) or vertical (9:16), crisp audio. Skip background music that could trigger a copyright strike or bury your voice.
Then wait. The review on your first three videos usually takes a few days to two weeks. When you pass, the lock icon on your creator tab clears and your videos start showing up across Amazon product pages. If you get denied, look at why, delete the rejected video, and resubmit.
That is the whole path. Door one gets you in. Door two gets you paid. Do both and you have a real Amazon income that costs you nothing to start.
